Biography
William Bowers joined the faculty at Penn State Berks in 2001 after working in IT with several large companies and as a consultant. His experience includes programming in a number of languages from assembler through fifth generation languages.
Bowers is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in SQL Server and has worked in MySQL. He has worked with clients to determine and define software requirements to fulfill business needs and goals and has extensive user interface design experience. As a consultant, he has managed software development projects for a variety of large corporations.
Bowers teaches a wide variety of information sciences and technology courses, including programming, the social impact of IT, the legal and regulatory environment of IT, user interface design, databases and computer forensics. He also serves in the University Faculty Senate and the Berks Faculty Senate. He is a member of the Occupational Advisory Council for the computer science programs at the Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center.
In his free time, Bowers volunteers as a puppy home for Canine Partners for Life, helping to raise puppies to become service dogs.
